How to Create your Jumia Seller Account.

To create your Jumia seller account, you need to go to this website: vendorcenter.jumia.com. Or you can simply go to Google and type in “sell on Jumia Nigeria” and go from there.

Click the link that says Vendor Center Jumia. It will take you straight to the page where you have to sign up. From here, you can click “Sell on Jumia.”

You have to select your country. We are going to select Nigeria, then click on Next. Now, you are going to enter your email and verify the email.

You will receive a verification code in your email, copy the verification code, and paste it, then click on Verify.

Next, Jumia expects you to enter your phone number. I’m going to enter my phone number and also set my password.

Then click on Next.

Now, you have the option to select as a business or as an individual. If you’re a business and you want to sign up as a business, you need some requirements. They will need your company’s registration documents. But for the sake of simplicity, we are going to start with the individual. So just simply register as an individual.

Next, proceed with a shop name. Enter your shop name.

Then select your location. For quick registration, I’m going with Lagos as my shipping zone.

“How did you hear about Jumia?” You can just put whatever it is—Google, for example. Then agree with the terms. It is good for you to read the terms, go through them, and then click on Submit.

“Yes, I’m sure.” Click there to submit. Then hold on while Jumia is creating my account.

Proceed to Login to Your Vendor Account

We are expected to log into our account and upload our documents to complete the registration.

Here is my dashboard. My dashboard is live to accept my documents. As you can see, in this first category, it is ticked green, which means it is already completed based on the information we supplied.

We are going to go to the next one and fill in these details. Meanwhile, I want to let you know that you can actually toggle on and fill any of this information. If you don’t have information for a category, you can go on and complete the rest, and later on, when you have the information, you can come back and upload it.

In this category, I’m going to enter my name. I am expected to enter my full name. I’ll just enter my name for reference. Then I’m going to select my passport. If you don’t have a passport, your national ID, voter’s card, or driver’s license—whichever you have—you can upload it.

For your passport, you need to enter your passport number and upload the front side. For demo purposes, I will just upload something here. That is the front side of my passport.

For the back side of the passport—you know your passport does not have a back side—you can either upload the front side again or leave it empty. It is not required since you already uploaded the first one.

Now, you need to enter your TIN. Just to make this video short, we won’t show you how to create a TIN here, but I will leave a video reference. You can watch that YouTube video on how to create your TIN. It is very easy and takes less than 3 to 5 minutes. In 48 to 72 hours, you will get your TIN.

Let’s say we have our TIN: 000000. That is the TIN number. You then upload your TIN document. For demo, I’ll just put any document there.

Your VAT number is not required. The basic information needed is your identification, your TIN, and your legal representative address.

As I mentioned before, it is very good for you to have a Lagos State address. But if you don’t have one, we will provide you with an address. This address will be a shipping company fulfillment address. The reason is because at the later stage, you are going to use this fulfillment company anyway, at least to get started. Using their address is a good start.

So for demo, let’s put Lagos, First Street, Nigeria, and postal code 101. Once complete, click on Submit.

If your document is not getting submitted, you need to check why. Here, it says we need to upload the back side. So I will just upload the same passport again. Now it is uploaded, and I will click on Submit.

You can always come back and re-edit your document before completing the final verification. But note that your review is not completed yet. It will only be completed when all the categories are filled. Once all categories are filled, Jumia will start their verification.

The next category is shipping information. As I mentioned, the shipping information here will be the same as the fulfillment company’s information. If you have your Lagos State address, you can use that. If not, we provide you with one. You can make this the same as your business address and also use it as your return address. Then click Save.

It is now showing completed. You can always come back and re-edit this.

Next is payment information. Select Nigeria, bank transfer. Enter your beneficiary name, your bank account number, and your bank name, for example, First Bank of Nigeria.

For the routing number, if you don’t know it, you can simply go to Google and type “routing number code First Bank Nigeria.” You will see the Swift code and routing number. Copy them and paste them in. If you’re not sure, you can also contact your bank directly for these details.

Next, you need to upload your bank information document, which is your statement. For demo, I’ll just upload a sample document here.

Enter your branch name, for example, Lagos branch, and your beneficiary address (the address on your statement). Then click Create.

You can always come back to edit this information. The details I entered here are not accurate, but you should enter yours correctly.

Next category: shop details. Add your shop name and catalog details.

For catalog details, enter your primary product. For example, I can say “fashion and accessories.” How do you source your product? Options include international brand, local, or dropshipping. You can select the one that applies. I will select “import.”

Do you also sell offline? You can say Yes or No. Do you use any other online channels? If yes, enter them, if not, select No. Then click Save.

This category is now completed, and all our stuff is in review.

Next, shop details. Do you have an existing shop on Jumia? If no, select No. If yes, select Yes.

What type of seller are you? Are you a manufacturer, a brand, a distributor, or a wholesaler? If none applies, you can select Others.

You are expected to upload a document. This doesn’t have to be an official document. You can create a Word document that includes your shop name and a short description like “I am a business owner” or something that describes what you do. You can also upload any business documents if you have them.

This is just a formality to show you are doing this as a business. Once you upload, click Save.

That’s all for the registration. Once it’s done, your shop is live.
